The House. Officially. Ours.

As of 4:40 pm this afternoon, we became Manteo home owners!

We had plans for a celebratory cook out with the three of us, but a storm blew in and just slightly dampened those efforts. (We were desperate for rain so we didn't mind terribly much.)

So we ferried the chicken inside to cook and happily celebrated our Big Moment forthwithly and forsoothly.

We're thankful that we opted to wait on the closing till the termite inspection was done this morning; turns out there is some termite activity (thankfully, no damage) and the treatment will be around $800. Since it was found before the closing was finalized, we won't have to pay for that.

The new air conditioner is on order and will be installed early next week. I'm quite extremely thrilled about that little bit of news. The carpet will take another couple weeks because Steve wants to do some painting first but the main point is that we can do whatever we want, whenever we want because the house is officially ours! (One day before the deadline, might I add.)

As I've said before in times of celebration, "Hallelujah and hurray!"

What wonderful news! A celebration was definitely called for! I had just been reading an article about all the purchase agreements (mainly for short sales and foreclosures) up here in MN that were not going to make the June 30th deadline, so I thought I had better check to see if you had news. Hooray!

So glad you are homeowners in Manteo!!!! And so glad you waited for the inspection--$800 saved is a lot. Now on with the pictures of the updates, improvements, changes, etc. Still want to come visit and trying to figure out a time. God is good and His timing is perfect. You had a "whole" 24 hours to spare.

I am so happy things worked out! Glad they caught the termites, and not on your dime. We just got a new 16 seer AC and furnace put in 2 months ago. We are very happy having a new efficient unit! Plus the tax credit next year will be nice. And our city gave us a nice rebate too. I hope yours does not take 3 days to install as ours did...I was ready to SCREAM! Just some unexpected obstacles with the newer placement of the furnace and codes and junk. Fun times.
Anyway, Congratulations on your new house and happy decorating! Jill-FL

you are something else!!!

My choir director (I've had the same one for at least 40 years... 2 churches) bought a house probably 35 years ago, and unfortunately did NOT have a termite inspection until it was their responsibility)...... LOTS OF DAMAGE, AND LOTS OF EXPENSE. and the previous owner knew about the termites because it was evident that he had done some repair work under the carpeting.

so happy that you are an official new home owner!!!
