The best advice I could give you is to put all your refrigerated/frozen food in think garbage bags and tape them up, then put them back in. That way if electricity goes out while you aren't home, you don't come back to a nasty, stinky mess. Luckily when Rita hit, we were 20 and newly weds (oh, what a long almost 6 years ago, haha), and all we had were condiments and lunch meat in our fridge. The fridge was the apartments really, so we wouldn't have had to replace it.
