Meagan Doing Redeemer (re-posted)

A request was made in the Comments section earlier this week asking if I would re-post the video of Meagan (Nathan's girlfriend) performing "Redeemer." The video I posted originally didn't have real great sound quality; I'm hoping that this version (performed at our church in Manteo) does a little better.

There's a little "jump" in the middle of the video since I have a video camera that isn't able to zoom in unless you stop taping for a minute. So I apologize for that bit of "unsmoothness" midway through. (And yes, unsmoothness is a word. I just created it!)

Steve is sitting on the platform behind Meagan as she performs and occasionally, you will see him raise his hands. Just in case you're wondering what that is all about, there's a 60-second theology lesson posted after the video. (And there WILL be a test!)

The lyrics are posted below the video. Enjoy!

REDEEMER

1. Who taught the sun where to stand in the morning?
And who told the ocean, "You can only come this far?"
And who showed the moon where to hide till evening?
Whose words alone can catch a falling star?

Chorus:
Well, I know my Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives
All of creation testifies
This life within me cries
I know my Redeemer lives

2. The very same God Who spins things in orbit
Runs to the weary, the worn and the weak
And the same gentle hands that hold me when I'm broken
They conquered death to bring me victory

Chorus:
Now I know, my Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives
Let all creation testify
Let this life within me cry
I know
My Redeemer

Bridge:
He lives
To take away my shame
And He lives
Forever I'll proclaim
That the payment for my sins
Was the precious life He gave
And now He's alive and
There's an empty grave

And I know
My Redeemer lives, He lives
I know, My Redeemer lives
Let all creation testify
Let this life within me cry
I know my Redeemer lives

THEOLOGY LESSON

The book of Psalms refers many times to raising hands in worship and so many churches make that a part of their worship experience.

And to make the concept a bit more understandable, think about what football fans do when their teams scores a touch down. Hands in the air. Think about the audience's response at a big concert. Hands in the air. Think about your reaction if a criminal sticks his gun in your ribs. Hands in the air.

And so briefly, hands in the air represent worship, exultation, surrender. Simple as that!

Hello! It's me, Becky! You know, Mrs. Smithellaneous?

I've decided to delete the posting of this song I put up in July since the quality of this one is so much better. However, since I didn't want to lose those comments, I am going to re-post them here.

Lesley said, "Wow."

I LOVE it...the way God moves....and from watching her...you can TELL, her heart is close to her Heavenly Father.

What a blessing...for Nathan to have such a Godly young woman...in his life!!! :-)

Amazing, simply amazing! Yes I have tears running down my face. What a wise choice Nathan has made.

This is one of my favorite songs ever. Whenever I hear this song in the future, I know that in my mind I will recall this image of a young woman so joyful to be serving the Lord. Thank you Miss Becky!

There is such beauty when passion for the Lord is expressed, but especially in such a vibrant and exciting manner! Meagan is such a joy to watch perform...well, it's really more like sharing your innermost and utmost joy. Obviously Meagan doesn't just walk with Jesus...she RUNS with him...through fields of pure love.

I suspect this is just one of many gifts that Miss Meagan possesses. Thanks for sharing.

I have tears in my eyes for two reasons. One, that is a beautiful interpretation of an amazing song. And two, God has given you what every mother wants; for her child to find a soul mate with whom you can feel that they will be safe and happy. Megan is obviously lovely both outside AND in, and Nathan obviously looked for and found a girl "just like Mom". Wow. God is good.

I did teach the children at my old school in Junior Kdg thru 1st grade signs for a few songs... and that always made me cry when I watched them. My favorite was when they would sign a verse with just the piano playing and no singing. That was probably close to artistic sign language, but not quite as dramatic.

Wonderful. It gave me chills. I watched it three times. Meagan is beautiful. I loved to watch Steve in the background. Thank you so much for sharing. I also was thrilled to here the congregations cheers and applause - for their Redeemer and His beautiful messenger - Meagan.

She does a beautiful job....anointed for sure!

Oh, and no explanation necessary for the raising of hands here...I was raised in a Pentecostal church!:)

Beautiful! My nephew's wife sang "I Can Only Imagine" at my Daddy's service August 8 and my niece did the signing. It was awesome and we forgot to have it video taped. Guess at a time like that you don't remember some things until it is too late.

I cry everytime I see her do that! It is so touching and I love raising our hands in praise. Thank you for sharing this!
