Bad Day

Not having a great day.

Housing situation is not looking good.

Stressed (and depressed) over surgery and its awful aftermath.

Financial worries are making me cry.

Chocolate isn't making it all go away.

Becky "Miss Sunshine" Smith is nowhere to be found.

Sorry Becky. Some days are just like this. Go take a walk. Talk to the Father. He knows every hair on your head. He cares about the sparrows so you KNOW how much He cares for you. He has NOT forgotten you. I will stop and pray right now.

Hang in there. You've got a lot of people praying and rooting for you! :)

Just wanted to say that I am so thankful for your honesty! We too moved for my husband's job and are going through many of the same things you are with housing and financial worries...it is so refreshing to hear that we are not alone. I have been reading your blog since Sarah's cancer returned and love all the pictures you post and your amazing writing. Thanks for opening your life to the world.

Sorry you are having a VERY sad, no good, rotten day! Your plate is very full so days like this are to be expected. Know that you have prayers from so many of us from near and far.

Please let us know what you need. It's hard being so far away from someone you know you would like to help.

Prayers and hugs!

Prayers for you! So much overload. Sit quietly with the Lord until you feel some peace. Then have a piece of chocolate.

Praying for you.

Better days are ahead, Becky. There is a song the Gaither Vocal Band sings called "Better Days" and I believe their new CD is entitled that. God is still able and prayers are still being said for the Smiths for all situations--health, housing, etc. Take care and know we love and support you. Feel the Father's loving arms around you each minute of the day. Wish we could be there but we are here for you in prayer.

There are times when words fail me; times when I wish that I was in close enough proximity to just hold you and let you cry on my shoulder. I think I shall have to see if anyone makes a shoulder pillow that I could send you as a stand-in (and no, I am not being facetious). I won't list all that I know that is on your plate (and I'm sure there are things about which I have no idea); I just know that it must seem so overwhelming right now. And I suppose, when surrounded by so much, the best choice is simply to look up, because the other options will allow you to be crushed. While this will blow out your guestbook, I just love 2 Corinthians 4 and feel the need to post it in it's entirety here.... drink from His cup, Becky, and be filled...

Treasures in Jars of Clay
1 Therefore, since through God's mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart.
2 Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.
3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing.
4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
5 For we do not preach ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake.
6 For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair;
9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.
10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.
11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body.
12 So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.
13 It is written: "I believed; therefore I have spoken." With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak,
14 because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you in his presence.
15 All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.
16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.
17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Your words are always so uplifting it broke my heart this morning. I am praying for you in all situations. I have followed your sight for a long time. That is the first thing I do is check your page. I know how you feel we are going thru some rough times right now but just remember God Is In Control....that is the only words that get me through each day.

Becky, you poor dear. These emotions is not unexpected or unreasonable and completely understandable but so hard to get through. I agree with the first post here - talk to the Father, talk to your father, let yourself feel the emotions and shed the tears. That is required to get through everything. All I can offer are prayers. Things will resolve - it may be a little difficult along the way but hopefully we can help carry you. Praying.

I'm sorry you are having a bad day Becky. Everything will work out the way it is supposed to, although I know that is an easy thing to say and not an easy thing to believe. We are all praying!!

I wish you were having a GOOD day, but, since, obviously, you are not, I want to share a little bit of sunshine that makes my "bad" days a little better. When I happen to hear this song, it always puts a smile on my face. I hope the lyrics make you smile, too. :)

Song is "Three Little Birds", by Bob Marley ...

Don't worry a-bout a thing, 'cause ev-ry little thing gonna be all right.
Singing': "Don't worry about a thing, 'cause ev-ry little thing gonna be all right!"

Rise up this mornin'; smiled with the risin' sun.
Three little birds pitch by my doorstep
Singin' sweet songs of melodies pure and true; saying,
"This is my message to you-ou-ou.”

Singin': "Don't worry about a thing, ‘cause ev-ry little thing gonna be all right."
Sayin': "Don't worry about a thing, ‘cause ev-ry little thing gonna be all right!"

Rise up this mornin'; smiled with the risin' sun.
Three little birds pitch by my doorstep
Singin' sweet songs of melodies pure and true; sayin',
"This is my message to you-ou-ou."

Meanin': "Don't worry about a thing, worry about a thing,
oh! Ev-ry little thing gonna be all right.
Singin': "Don't worry about a thing" - I won't worry!
‘cause every little thing gonna be all right."

Meanin': "Don't worry about a thing, ‘cause every little thing
gonna be all right" - I won't worry!
"Don't worry about a thing, ‘cause ev-ry little thing ‘sgonna be all right."

(Baby) Don’t worry about a thing,
'cause ev’ry little thing gonna be all right.

"I call you Savior, I call you Master, I call you God.

I call you Father, I call you Faithful, I call you everyting that I've got.

I call you Jesus, I call you Healer, I CALL YOU MERCY, I CALL YOU MINE.

I CALL YOU ONE WHO ALWAYS WILL COME THROUGH,

You are the Lord who captures my heart." (Don't know the writer, but LOVE the song.)

Lord, please let Becky see you walk across the water to her storm-tossed boat and hear You speak calm and peace to her weary, over burdened heart and circumstances.

Love, Guerrina

Isaiah 43: 1-3
"But now, this is what the LORD says—he who created you, O Jacob,
he who formed you, O Israel:
"Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
2 When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.
3 For I am the LORD, your God,
the Holy One of Israel."

Hang in there Becky...remember...you will walk THROUGH these situations. God will not ask you to reside there...but rather...continue on...walking...step by step...moment by moment.

I'm gripping the hem of his garment on your behalf my friend.

Becky, your plate is far too full of things no one should have to worry about! I know you hate to ask for help, but would your church be able to give you and Steve some kind of "bridge" loan that would allow you to buy the house you are in now? That would make it possible to sell your Smithfield house at a loss, but at least it would be over. I so wish I was a rich person who could step in and help. So many folks find themselves in trouble because they made bad decisions, but that is definitely not you! Pray, sleep, scream into your pillow, eat chocolate! My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Cancer is more than enough to throw you for a loop, let alone the financial strain of the house situation. Know and be comforted that we are all holding you close and sending what comfort we can through cyberspace.

Hey Becky, do you have any favorite empowering, angry, "fighting" music (not necessarily religious)? I admit I like to sit quietly and be soothed by gentle crooning, but it also works wonders for my mood just to blast the radio when an "in your face" kind of song comes on. Some of my favorites might not be, um, appropriate for a pastor's wife, but maybe your readers have some suggestions.
