The Post In Which I Miscellanicize

Right after lunch today Steve and I are leaving for an overnight getaway celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary. (Which is tomorrow.) We’re staying at the same hotel the church put us in over a year ago when we first came to Manteo as pastoral candidates. When I first saw that gorgeous hotel I said to myself, “At some point in my life, I am going to come back here and stay when I am not so nervous about all this pastoral candidating stress.”

And as things have worked out, tonight is that night. Hooray for celebrating a beautiful marriage in a beautiful place! (And hooray for seasonal rates and extra discounts.)

Sarah will stay overnight with a family in the church and Snowy will spend the night at the kennel. He is still doing amazingly well; I really can’t get over it. I guess he is one tough little (cute) doggie to keep on going with such perkiness when his liver is in such horrible shape.

In the next week or so, we’ll take him back for another liver test and see where things stand. In the meantime he is, of course, wedged between the arm of the chair and my leg, snoozing peaceably. In case you haven’t noticed by now, he is a professional snoozer.

I’d like to close out last year by posting some recent pictures that didn’t get included in any other posts. And as to whether I took certain pictures with my point and shoot or with my Nikon, at this point I couldn’t even tell you which are which.

The past two weeks have been so crazy (with Snowy’s health, Nathan being home, Christmas, the trip to Charlotte), that I have been grabbing for whatever camera is nearest to me and shooting away. If I had to guess, though, I’d say the pictures are divided about equally.

Before I post them though, I want to thank those of you who have contributed some of your favorite book titles to the Book Discussion started a few posts back. I recognized a couple titles: Steve and I have both read, “ Team of Rivals” and loved it. I’ve also read “Same Kind of Different Like Me’ and thought it was wonderful. I haven’t read Elizabeth Edward’s latest book (that was mentioned) but I did read her first book. She was an amazing lady and I love her writing style. I was also happy to get some new reading ideas from you all!

Thanks to those of you who chimed in and answered some of the Kindle questions that were asked. And kudos to Mindy who was the only one to guess how Nathan’s salt shaker stayed propped up the way it did in an earlier picture I posted. It was balanced on one grain of salt!

Alrighty then! Happy New Year and Happy Picture Looking.

A couple of shots which (for some strange reason) didn’t make the final cut for the family picture.

Nathan decided he would try to throw a small piece of some kind of food (can’t remember what is was) and try to get it in Sarah’s mouth. (Yes, we do have impeccable manners at dinnertime.)

And now it’s also time to wave good-bye to 2010! May your next twelve months be filled with joy in the good times and peace in the hard times.

Happy, happy New Year to my dear Smithellaneous friends; you guys give me a reason to write and for that, I am immensely thankful.

Happy New Year to all the Smith's! I pray you all have a Blessed 2011.

I'm chiming in on the book question (a little late, but chiming in, none the less!) I LOVED Elizabeth Edwards 2nd book. She was a wonderful woman!

I also love Robin Lee Hatcher and Karen Kingsbury. They are Chrisitna authors and I love their stories...very heartwarming. I also love Debbie Macomber.

There, I've chimed in and now I am chiming out =)

Love to you all!
Krista

Happy New Year to the Smith family! May 2011 be filled with love, laughter, joy, and (for Steve).. olives! Lots of luscious, tasty, salty olives. And for you, Becky, of course there needs to be an abundance of chocolate. And infinite gigabytes of space for all of the lovely photos you will take! :<) Praying that Snowy stays perky to the point that the vet finally has to throw up her/his hands and say "I don't know; must be the power of prayer..." :<) love to you, my dear friend....

PLEASE keep the book titles coming. I start to panic when I don't have at least 10 books (waiting) plus the one I am currently reading (right now Greg Iles: The Quiet Game) on my Kindle at all times (LOL). I just bought a new (upgraded) Kindle as a birthday (August)/Hanukkah Present to myself (any suggestions how to sell my old Kindle)? I also keep a running list of books I want to buy. If anyone has any great titles that are not religious, I would appreciate it greatly. I mean NO disrespect by that comment (no religion books) so I hope that nobody takes any offense. The LAST thing I want to do is hurt anyone’s feelings.
While books are very INEXPENSIVE to download on to the Kindle, I am trying to be sensible or else I would have 2000 books on there (it could hold 3500). I just love getting caught up in a good book. I used to read 1+ book(s) a day. Severe, DAILY, migraines ended that; now I am lucky if I can read THREE a MONTH).
Happy, Healthy, New Year to the Smithellaneous Family!
