Sarah. And Me. And The Dog.

We three (above mentioned) Smith Folk are all hanging out at home today. I opted not to go to the retreat with Steve because, although Sarah’s fever is down this morning, she’s still acting sluggish and sickish. (Those are complex medical terms, if you’re wondering.)

And since I’m still not feeling up to par myself, a sick day at home with my daughter and my doggie is just what the doctor ordered.

It occurred to me last night after I posted the chaotic bathroom pictures that I didn’t explain that those are pictures from almost a week ago. We actually don’t have it quite that bad at the moment.

Here’s a glimpse of the progress so far.

We’re eventually going to hang “something” under the lights in the middle; just haven’t decided what “something” might look like. A clock? A picture? A floral thingie? Just don’t know.

When the camera zooms out a little though, you can that this is still very much a work in progress.

And speaking of the bathroom, Pam T. left a comment asking if we liked having a corner shower.

Pam, I guess I haven’t really thought much about it since that’s what was waiting for us when we moved in to this house. But actually, we like it pretty well; it’s about 30% bigger than our old shower (which was teeny) and so we feel blessed with space, even though it’s not as big as a full tub shower would be. But I would have no hesitation recommending it to you and, as you said, it is a huge space saver! (Which is always a good thing.)

And finally (before I head back to bed for my Sick Lady Nap), I wanted to point your attention to a blog I just became aware of that focuses on a group of women who get together and make quilts to send to orphans in India. We hear so much bad, negative and depressing news these days; it’s especially heartening to read about people who take time out of their lives to mend and warm the hearts of small, broken children in a world far away.

Take a look and be inspired!

Okay, I have been overwhelmed at work and not able to even READ and comment - first of all, LOVE Sarah's bangs - I hope she and you are feeling better - and the bathroom is beginning to come together beautifully - I think a floral thingie or a little shelf or painting would be lovely between the mirrors - a clock could be a little menancing - too much pressure in that location - I know what it means to have a torn up house - when I was married (years and years ago) by ex-husband tore up the entire house to remodel it - it was a little to particular and a little too procrastinating and way too slow in completing anything - the kitchen was so torn up that I did dishes in the bath tub for TWO years - it is a sad story - sort of led to the divorce - have you ever seen the movie Money Pit - I lived it - only worse - so I can understand your frustration - I can't even begin to tell you all the craziness that I lived through while raising babies in the middle of a construction zone - with NO hard hat.

I am so sad that you and Sarah aren't feeling well. I was really looking forward to pictures of that really big house we probably drove by last March. Hopefully you sent a camera with Steve.

I just returned from a three night stay at Bodega Bay and managed to catch a cold while there. Still it was wonderful to be away for a few days. Looking forward to seeing you next month when Chlorita and I return to the Outer banks.

Feel better both of you!

I think I might be coveting your new bathroom! Not the mess that goes with creating it - but oh I love how it is beginning to look.

I hope everyone feels better soon.

Hello Sweet Friend! I am so sorry you and Sarah are not feeling well. Tory got the icky nasty stuff this week too, and is trying to get better. I love your bathroom re-do! Great job!! Love the colors! You've done such a great job with the house to make it yours, and it just looks beautiful ;).

Love you,

Crystal

You should hang something in the middle that depicts Manteo or the ocean. Something with sea glass maybe.
