My goal is to try and stay awake long enough to get this post written.  I’ll let you know how that works for me.

Since I got home Saturday morning, I’ve been asleep at least 90% of the time.  The sleeping is wonderful---it’s the whole getting out of bed thing that is not so wonderful.

Ouch. Ouch.  Ouch . .  .

Debbie posted earlier saying I had a good night, and I really did!  I’m so thankful for that, especially since the night before I was downright miserable.  I had several vomiting episodes so I swallowed an anti nausea pill to help.   Which I immediately threw up. By then, I was needing additional pain meds rather desperately, but one of the two meds I’m on is not supposed be taken on an empty stomach.  And my stomach was as empty as a stomach could be.  But if I ate something--in order to NOT  take the meds on an empty stomach, I threw it right up again.

Let me just say that it was not one of the most pleasant evenings of life.

For now, I can feel the pain med kicking in so I supposed I’d better lie down for my second, four-hour nap of the day. I’m so thankful to have meals being brought in from the church and also for Mom and Debbie’s cooking, cleaning, nursing skills.

I will leave you with a few pre-surgery photos in which I am not wearing make up.  I hope they’re not too terribly alarming for you.

My loving, patient, supportive husband.

Becky, Thank you for "talking" to us. I am glad things are getting a tiny bit better - you are moving in the right direction. Now, I haven't mentioned this before, but I am joining the ranks of astonishment in the fact that major surgery is not something that allows you at least a couple of nights in the hospital or until you are stable and the pain is controlled!! Anyway, at least the loving care you received and your stamina got you through that part. Praying. Keep napping!

Just stopping in to let you know that I am still praying for you. I hope the pain goes away and that you find peace as you adjust in the coming weeks.

God's blessing and peace surround you and yours

Good to know you're having better moments now!

Here's a story for you. :)

My friend recently moved to a new house and is perplexed about what size bed to buy. She wants to get a queen sized, but knows the box spring won't get up the stairs. I said, "oh! Just cut it in half and then fix it! Just like .... uh.... who was that?"

I looked at my husband and waited for him to finish my sentence because I knew he'd know. I mean, we've helped at least 10 friends move in the last couple years. But he just stared back blankly. He had no idea what I was talking about.

For the rest of the afternoon and evening, it drove me crazy that I had pictures in my head of the whole event unfolding and couldn't remember whose house it was.

You'll be happy to know that the next morning while brushing my teeth, your family finally popped into my head as being the ones who did it. I guess I just feel like I know you after reading for so long!

Best wishes at feeling better soon!

Jenny

Hi Becky,
I want you to know that our daughter Stephanie is running an adventure ultramarathon race in the Australian Outback right now to raise money for cancer research(in US, Canada and the UK). It is a 6-day crazy, self-supported foot race through tough terrain, crocodile-infested waters in 95+ degree heat!

I have emailed her about you and Sarah and asked her to keep you close in her heart as she runs! Will email you the link to her blog. Hang in there and grab all the zzz's you can. The body actually speed-heals while we rest...

Becky,

Sleep as much as you can, just call it healing time! I thought the pictures of you were wonderful before your procedure. I am checking in all the time, even from the office and was so glad to read suchpositive updates from both you and your sister.

Becky,

Please know you are in my thoughts now and in the days ahead! You are a brave woman and have an amazing family.

If you should need it (and I hope you don't) I just wanted to mention that there is a disintegrating zofran (anti-nausea) pill that dissolves on your tongue if the tablets won't stay down...

Thinking of you all!

So glad to hear from you as well as Debbie. You are still pretty and even without makeup. I'll e-mail later comments from Sherri Easter and Connie Hopper as well as Debra Talley (The Talley Trio). Their experiences with breast cancer and Debra with an MRI sounded so like you. Debra has not had cancer just the "tube" experience. Continue to rest and be pampered. Wish we were there to help. Praying for you, the family and the Smithfield house! In God's time----.

One Flaw In Women

Women have strengths that amaze men.....

They bear hardships and they carry burdens,

but they hold happiness, love and joy.

They smile when they want to scream.

They sing when they want to cry.

They cry when they are happy

and laugh when they are nervous.

They fight for what they believe in..

They stand up to injustice.

They don't take "no" for an answer

when they believe there is a better solution.

They go without so their family can have.

They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.

They love unconditionally.

They cry when their children excel

and cheer when their friends get awards.

They are happy when they hear about

a birth or a wedding.

Their hearts break when a friend dies.

They grieve at the loss of a family member,

yet they are strong when they

think there is no strength left.

They know that a hug and a kiss

can heal a broken heart.

Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.

They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you

to show how much they care about you.

The heart of a woman is what

makes the world keep turning.

They bring joy, hope and love.

They have compassion and ideas.

They give moral support to their

family and friends.

Women have vital things to say

and everything to give.

HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE FLAW IN WOMEN,

IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH.

Just saying "hello" this morning and hoping you are feeling even better than yesterday. I hope there is some sunshine in your area that will help to cheer you, also. Praying.

Hi Becky! We have been in Iowa with no internet since Thursday evening but I have been thinking about you the whole weekend! I am so glad that the surgery is over and was successful. I know things are hard right now but you will make it through! You are so lucky to have such a great family to be there with you! I hope you are feeling a little better today (and will continue to feel a little better everyday)!!
