Snowy Is In The Hospital

I’ll write more tomorrow, but here’s a brief report on Sir Snowy.

Snowy has to stay in the hospital at least overnight.  He has a high white cell count, pancreatitis, high liver enzymes, increased blood in the urine, and also, one of his kidney stones has grown bigger in the last ten days and is showing up brighter on the x-ray.  (Meaning that it has become more “dense.”)

Since he has eaten and drunk very little in 36 hours, he’s very dehydrated and will be on IV fluids and antibiotics all night.

The doctor said we would be called immediately if there’s any change during the night; otherwise, we’ll hear from them in the morning as to whether or not he responded to the treatment and what’s next.

I keep looking around the house waiting for him to show up. But he doesn’t.

And I miss him.

I am sooooooo sorry. I know exactly how you feel as I had to make a "decision" about my precious 15 year old Picky in September. What others who dont have pets dont realize is that these angels become part of our family. LIke our child. Snowy has been a major part of you guys for years and years. I pray so God that Snowy responds so he can get better and come home. Until then, please know we all are praying for you guys and will remain doing so. I know its hard as I still look all over to see my Picky.
Love you
Nancy :-(

Smith family,
I am so sorry that Snowy is not well. I am hoping and praying that Snowy pulls through. May my two little cat angels (Nicodemus and Amadeus) watch over Snowy as he is in the hospital. I really hope you do not have to make that decision.

Love,
Michelle

Oh dear! I so hope he responds overnight. Is Victoria still there? She would be such good added support for Sarah...

So sorry to read this news about Snowy. Our American Eskimo Sydney has chronic pancreatitis. She isn't allowed to have any food except a prescription food (Royal Canin Low Fat), but that has kept her with us for a couple of years. Praying that Snowy gets better quickly.

Praying for Snowy and the family. Been there and know how you feel with him in the hospital on IV. Our cat went through that almost six years ago and God did not make us make a decision--He made it for us. However, Mama's little 3 pound dog (now 5 pounds)was very ill last Thanksgiving and she came through fine. You would not know now she was ever sick. God does answer prayer even though sometimes it is not like we wish. We have had it both ways and tears flowed each time. God bless.

I hate this is happening to your family. I've gone through this with my own preacious Lacy, also a Maltese, several years ago. It was a gut wrenching decision to make. There are no words that will make any of this easier so I will simply pray for your family and say that I am so sorry. Hugs to you all.
